ENZO is a winemaker that lives in the city of Vespa  - PONTEDERA, near Pisa, and his family is making organic wine in Montepulciano, renown as one of the best TUSCAN Sangiovese.

Not that far from MONTEPULCIANO, we can find Val Tiberina - a place famous for the production of tobacco and, most of all, for the best JUNIPER in the world, base ingredient for gin.  It is right here, in the south of TUSCANY, where Ginepraio was BORN.

Although Tuscany is one of the ITALIAN regions that  needs no introduction, it is mesmerising how, once again, its history is able to surprise us, knowing that the English have been buying the juniper from Val Tiberina for over 400 years.

GINEPRAIO wants to unite these paths and tell this story, that makes Tuscany a brilliant combination of culture, art, experience, tradition and EMOTIONS.

 

While our company is based in Tuscany, the adventure started in Le Marche, more precisely, in SAN BENEDETTO DEL TRONTO, native city of FABIO, and one of the most important fishing harbours in Italy.

Here, centuries old sailors' tradition to use coffee mixed with whatever alcohol they could find on board - rhum, brandy, sambuca - to WARM UP in the cold nights, inspired Fabio to create a bottled version of this traditional drink.

Enzo's & Fabio's friendship, starts in 2010 in Florence, during the Wine Business Master and is sealed in spirits with the first launch of the OLD SAILOR COFFEE.

At first they thought it was just a crazy idea since neither of them knew how the world of bars and liquors worked, but the desire to create something UNIQUE prevailed over eventual doubts and hesitation.
